Crown Royal Whiskey Price

Canadian Whiskey has a rich history, and what brand is a better illustration of this than the iconic Crown Royal. You’ll recognize the royal purple bag instantly, and enjoy the smooth distinctive taste of these fine blended whiskies.

From their website: > Five different recipes (mash bills) and twelve distillation columns produce the individual whiskies that comprise our blends, which are then aged for varying periods of time in either new or re-use charred oak barrels. Our maturing barrels experience extreme temperature swings, the wood’s expansion and contraction slowly adding to the developing character. > Once the whiskies have been aged to our blenders’ satisfaction, they are meticulously blended to create the signature rich, smooth, award-winning flavor of Crown Royal.

Q.What's the most expensive type of Crown Royal?
A.The Crown Royal’s Extra Rare (XR) line is the most expensive of the commonly available labels, coming in at around $200 in most markets. There are occasional special release batches that can run even higher!

Q.Is Crown Royal whiskey or bourbon?
A.Although Crown Royal uses a bourbon mashbill, it’s technically still classified as whiskey. This is due simply to the fact that bourbon can only be made in the US, and Crown Royal is produced in Canada. Whatever you call it, if you enjoy a good bourbon, you’ll be happy with Crown.

Crown Royal Lines From A to Z

The Crown Royal brand has a deep bench of delicious and well-known whiskeys. What are you in the mood for tonight?

Deluxe

The flagship spirit, and the bottle most people picture when they hear the name Crown Royal. Great as a gift, or for yourself for special occasions or a daily drinker. A standard sized 750ml bottle runs around $20 in most stores.

A Glass of Crown Royal Whiskey

In their own words:

Crown Royal Deluxe is the standard of excellence for Canadian whisky. It is an extraordinary blend of our finest whiskies, matured to perfection.

Deluxe is the most common and readily available label for this brand, and you can find it in most grocery stores. It’s 80 proof (40% alcohol by volume), and the blended nature gives it an extremely reliable taste. It comes in an assortment of sizes ranging from 375ml, all the way up to a massive 1750ml (nearly a half gallon!).

Crown Royal Rye

Unique for a Canadian whiskey, if you enjoy a good rye, then this label might just be perfect for you! It runs around $25 in most stores, so it’s a bit pricer than the standard bottle of Deluxe, but still quite affordable.

From their website:

Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye combines the distinctive flavor of Canadian rye grain with the unmistakable smoothness of Crown Royal for a truly exceptional Canadian whisky.

It’s 90 proof (45% ABV), so it packs a real punch. As with the other Crown Royal varieties, it’s quite smooth. Availability of Crown Royal Rye is a bit more limited than Deluxe, but it’s still commonly found in grocery and liquor stores across the country.

Crown Royal Black

If you’re looking for a slightly more expensive option than the classic, but want to stick with the brand, look for their Black label. Like the Rye line, it’s 45% ABV (90 proof), which is a bit higher than their standard fare.

According to the makers:

A rich and flavorful blend of Canadian whisky. All the signature smoothness of Crown Royal, matured in charred oak barrels and blended at a higher proof for a richer texture and bold finish.

A fifth costs around $25, which is a bit more costly than their flagship line. The taste is a bit smoother than the original, but you’ll definitely still recognize it’s distinct style. It’s a bit harder to find than some of the other product lines, but you can still find it at stores like Walmart and Target in most areas.

Blender’s Mash

Another awesome line that’s very affordable, a 750 ml bottle Blender’s Mash is usually around $25. It’s not quite as easy to find as some of the other labels, but your standard liquor store should have it.

To hear them tell it:

Crown Royal Blenders’ Mash showcases the warm vanilla and subtle oaky notes of our beloved corn-heavy whiskies. Blender’s Mash showcase a classic whisky style but with the famous smooth finish, allowing the whisky to stand on its own.

Clocking in at 80 proof (40% alcohol by volume), it’s a bit less potent than the Rye and Black lines. All in all this is a very smooth and drinkable whiskey that Crown Royal fans are sure to enjoy.

Extra Rare (XR)

The XR stands for extra rare, and this bottle is definitely that! It’s the most expensive type of Crown Royal around, but if you have the budget for it you won’t be disappointed!

As they describe:

Taste the rarest in our extra rare whisky series, handcrafted with a unique blend that includes one of the final batches of whiskies from the renowned LaSalle distillery. Experience its sophisticated blend of dried fruits and honey in a harmonious balance with spicy notes of Canadian rye, finishing in a lovely, round taste of raisins, cocoa and brown sugar.

In the range of $170 per bottle, you’re obviously not as likely to find this at the corner store. That said, it’s not so rare that you’ll have to go way out of your way to find it either. Many high end liquor stores carry it, or you can get it online directly from the distiller.

Crown Royal XO

What do you get when you finish a classic Crown Royal blend in a cognac cask? That’d be the XO label.

Crown Royal Whiskey

As they describe:

Crown Royal XO is a skillfully blended Crown Royal Whisky finished in cognac casks, resulting in both an extraordinarily complex and smooth expression. This is an elegant whisky that is deliciously balanced with hints of vanilla, spice and rich dry fruit.

It’s not as pricey as XR, but this line will cost you in the neighborhood of $50 for a 750ml bottle. As advertised, it’s a very complex expression and smooth as anything else they make.

Crown Royal Reserve

When you let the master blender run wild, the result is this awesome Reserve line. A 750ml is around $40 and you can find it in most grocery and liquor stores.

From their team:

Our Master Blender hand selects less than 1% of our exceptionally aged whiskies, creating a blend that is aged longer than most for the perfect balance of flavor and depth. This whiskey is our Blender’s gift to Crown Royal enthusiasts: a creamy, rich, reserve-grade blend, with a velvety long lasting finish.

With the extra aging and hand selection, this is an extremely drinkable blend. It’s 40% ABV (80 proof), and comes in sizes ranging from 375ml to 1.75 litres.

Wine Barrel Finished

An awesome twist on the classic formula, wine barrel finished uses cabernet barrels for aging that gives it some real character. It’s harder to find than some of the other labels, but when you locate one, you’ll know you’re set!

From their team:

Crown Royal Wine Barrel Finished, the second expression in the Crown Royal Noble Collection showcases our Crown Royal Fine De Luxe Whisky, the standard of excellence for Canadian Whisky, finished in Cabernet Sauvignon wine barrels. The result is an intriguing new character that is still unmistakably Crown Royal.

A 750 ml bottle will cost you around $65, so it may not be suitable for daily consumption - but it’s amazing for special occasions! It’s 40.5% ABV (81 proof).

Regal Apple

Perfect for a crisp Autumn afternoon, Regal Apple infuses the classic Crown Royal spirit with apple flavors for a truly unique drink!

From their team:

To create this extraordinary blend, Crown Royal™ whiskies are hand selected and infused with Regal Gala Apple flavors. The result is a perfectly balanced Canadian Whisky with notes of crisp apple flavor.

The flavored variants are all around 35% abv (or 70 proof). Apple is one of the easiest to find (just about any grocery or liquor store), and will run you around $20 for a 750ml bottle. It’s also available in 1750ml sizes if you just can’t get enough!

Vanilla

A silky smooth vanilla flavored whiskey that goes great mixed with a variety of beverages, or just straight up!

From their team:

To create this extraordinary blend, Crown Royal™ Whiskies are hand selected and infused with the rich flavor of Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla. The result is uniquely sophisticated whisky bursting with the flavor of vanilla and the smoothness of Crown Royal™

As with the Apple flavor, this one is also 35% abv (or 70 proof). A bottle goes for $20 at most establishments, and it’s widely available.

Peach

What do you get when you cross the finest Georgia Peaches with a fine Canadian Blended whiskey? A refreshing and unique drinking experience! Like the other infused lines, it’s 35% ABV (70 proof), which is a bit lower than their standard fare.

According to the makers:

To create this extraordinary blend, Crown Royal whiskies are carefully selected by our master blender and infused with the juicy flavor of fresh Georgia peaches. The result is a vibrantly delicious whisky, bursting with the luscious flavor of peach and the distinctive smoothness of Crown Royal.

A fifth costs around $20, which is right in line with the rest of the flavored varieties. It can be a bit harder to find than some of the other popular ones, but the local grocery store or Walmart is still likely to carry it.

Salted Caramel

The limited edition seasonal Salted Caramel flavor is a real treat when you can find it! Great in hot chocolate or caramel, or perfect for a cozy evening in front of the fire.

From their team:

Crown Royal Salted Caramel Flavored Whisky is a limited edition flavor, available only in the winter months to bring a little festive sweetness to your holiday season. A blend of the finest Canadian whiskies, carefully selected by our Master Blenders and infused with the subtly salty-sweet taste of indulgent salted caramels – imparting lush, creamy notes that perfectly compliment the richness of Crown Royal Whisky

A 750 ml bottle will cost you around $20, and as mentioned it’s only available in winter. When it is in stock, it’s still not as common as the other labels but a big liquor store is likely to carry it. As with the other infused blends, it’s 70 proof.
